I've finally discovered the trick to cure one of my biggest frustrations with Safari under Tiger!

"‘Save Image As…’ Contextual Menu Item ★

Previous versions of Safari had a “Save Image As…” contextual menu item, which allowed you to pick the destination for downloaded images. This command is gone from the default contextual menu in Safari 2.0, but if you hold down the Option key, the “Save Image to ‘Your downloads folder’” command changes to “Save Image As…”."
